I understand the sentiment--the nostalgia--behind this post, but at the same time, the goodness of books--the stories, characters, plots, content--does not disappear with the paper. Everything about paper books exists in an ebook, except ebooks you check out from the library don't smell like mold or smoke or make me sneeze. :)
Oh, this was truly wonderful. I am a wierdo I know, but being around lots and lots of books makes me instantly happy. Even the dirty way you feel after coming home from the public library or a used bookstore, love it. I even get a kick out of repairing books, healing them as they heal me :-)
