    There was a time when our yard had more than 60 roses -- climbers, a rambler, antique roses, hybrid teas, floribundas, etc. Then came rose rosette disease, deliberately introduced by farmers int he upper Midwest to control multiflora rose overrunning cropland. Well, it control just about everything else, too, and spread south to Missouri. I have four David Austin roses that have somehow survived, and several Knockout roses that were supposed to be immune -- but weren't. Two have it, and are being pulled out.

    But I do love roses.
